Second Presbyterian Church benefits from spiritual gifts of women who are committed to serving our members and families. Under the leadership of our WIC Council, our ladies gather in circles for Bible study, prayer and fellowship.
Our ladies also organize to provide meals for needy families and to provide other forms of hospitality as they are needed. They gather for fun-filled and biblically inspiring women’s retreats.

The stated purpose of the PCA’s Women In the Church, which was approved by the first General Assembly, is: “that every woman know Christ personally and be committed to extending His kingdom in her life, home, church, community, and throughout the world.”
The foundation of this purpose statement is a covenantal understanding of the church. God has entered into a grace-relationship with us and bound Himself to us in covenant faithfulness. Our relationship with Him is personal, but it is not individual. The covenant is corporate. Our relationship with God puts us into the covenant community. We have covenant privileges and responsibilities in the community. We are to live with one another in a way that reflects our covenant relationship with God.
Under the oversight of the elders, women also serve on a variety of church committees, including missions, music and worship, and Christian education, and form the backbone of our nursery, children’s Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School ministries, as well as our Bible club ministry in local public elementary schools.
Our ladies enjoy numerous other spiritually-uplifting social gatherings, including ladies teas, bridal and baby showers, and our monthly LightBringers group in which mothers meet with 5th through 8th-grade girls to discuss godly womanhood.
Thanks be to God for our wonderful women, daughters of Zion, who are building up and serving Christ’s church!
“For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch.” Isaiah 62:1
“ …the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things – that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.” Titus 2:3-5
