Deacon | Class of 2024
Committee | Sympathy & Service
Garison first experienced God’s grace when he was born into a Christian home. Both of his parents are Baptist believers who took him to church, taught him the gospel, and sent him to VBS and similar events. At age 5, in a Child Evangelism Fellowship meeting, Garison prayed to receive Jesus Christ as his savior. He only vaguely remembers that moment. Whenever he was converted, surely it was the Lord’s work. Garison often thinks of Ephesians 2 which tells him that—even at such an early age—he was by nature a child of wrath. He would still be a dead man walking in sins, but God made him alive that he should walk in good works.
Garison’s parents enrolled him in a Christian school from kindergarten through high school, and he graduated from Erskine College. He came to the Reformed Faith in 2009, and not much later John Calvin convinced him that he should have his future children baptized. Seeking a church that would preach the whole counsel of God, he was led to Second in 2012, where he also met Amy. They married in 2014 and now have three daughters: Christine, Renee, and Nicole.
Garison works as a graphic designer at BJU Press. As he explains to his young children, that means he helps make school books so kids can learn to serve Jesus, and he tells artists how to draw pictures.
