Ron was born and grew up in Pickens, SC. After attending Pickens area schools, he graduated from Clemson University in 1970. He married his childhood sweetheart, Carolyn, while attending Clemson. Their only child, Brent, and his wife, Heather, have four children.
Ron was blessed with godly parents who reared him to love and honor the Lord. He was saved as a young child in the Southern Baptist Church. Although he always attended church, the Lord did not take preeminence in his life until some time after he and his family began attending the Free Presbyterian Church. Under the sound reformed preaching in that church, the Lord caused Ron to completely rest in Christ’s finished work on the cross.
Ron and Carolyn joined Second Presbyterian in September, 2010. The following spring, after retiring from a 38-year career with GBS Lumber, Ron underwent quadruple bypass surgery. This life-saving procedure caused Ron to draw closer to the Lord. His favorite passage since his surgery is from Psalm 34, “This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.”
