Kirby and his wife, Helen, have been members of Second Presbyterian Church since 2009, in answer to their prayer that the Lord would lead them to a church with biblical worship and expository preaching.
As members, they have participated together in Evangelism Explosion training and outreach, Good News Clubs at Hollis and Augusta Circle, and the prison ministry. Kirby teaches Sunday School in the assisted living unit at Perry Correctional Institute.
Kirby was born and reared in Newnan, Ga. In 1971, after years of antagonism toward Christ and Christians, the Lord graciously enlightened his mind. He saw the truth of the gospel for the first time and received Christ as his savior. Soon after his conversion, he and Helen were married and began serving in their churches in Georgia, Texas and South Carolina.
This service has included teaching children, youth and adults, teacher training, campus missions, planting classes for Bible Study Fellowship, and founding and administering a 501(c)3 Christian education non-profit.
Kirby has a B.S. in Textiles from Georgia Tech and an M.A. in Theology from Bob Jones University. He has worked as developer/teacher for Greenville Tech’s information technology continuing education program, senior systems analyst for Kemet Electronics, director of information technology for Dunlop Slazenger, and group controller for WestPoint Pepperell. Now semi-retired, he operates an internet business, Kee Technologies, Inc., selling accounting and point of sale software.
Sons, Micah and Jared, are married to Sonya and Karen; and granddaughters are Catherine, Clara, Sarah and Kaitlyn.
