Bio
David was born and reared in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Columbia High School in Decatur, Georgia and attended the University of Georgia where he received a BBA degree in Accounting and a MACC degree with an emphasis in Taxation. Upon receiving his Masters Degree, he moved to Greenville, South Carolina where he has lived for 33 years.
David met Jane Phibbs (member of Second for 42 years) after moving to Greenville and they were married in 1979. They have two children, Stacy, who married Paul Edwards in December, 2007, and Ben (19 yrs. old) who is a student at Clemson University. David, a certified public accountant, is a partner with Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP working in the tax area, and formerly was a partner with EY for 25 years.
David was born into a Christian home under the influence of godly parents and accepted Christ when he was 8 years old. He joined Second Presbyterian Church after moving to Greenville and has been a member for over 30 years. One of the ways he has grown as a Christian is watching how God provides for the needs of Second Church, both in good and in difficult economic times.
David was ordained a Deacon at Second Church in 1987 and has been active on the Deacon board most of the years since then, serving on the Sympathy and Service Committee and as Treasurer. Elected an Elder in 2011, David has also taught Sunday School and worked in the Church Nursery.
